FSM was founded in the town of Sulzbach (Baden-Württemberg) as a family-operated business by the Frank Family, where it was successfully built up and expanded over two generations. Furniture history was made there a long time ago with the first design-oriented functional armchair. After the sweeping success of that armchair, the special significance of functions in seating furniture was recognized as an essential quality characteristics and consistently further developed over the course of decades. Today every piece of furniture from the FSM organisation is characterised by additional special functions, which in their expression are unique and market-leading. This is how FSM products differed from the many copycats on the market.

In 2000 FSM was taken over by de Sede, the worldwide leading Swiss premium upholstery brand. Our production was first moved there, too, as have our administrative departments in the meantime. Our company headquarters were moved to Bielefeld (North Rhine Westphalia). From there, the independence of our very successful product development and selective marketing policy still continues today. These were perfect preconditions for successfully combining and consistently further expanding upon our high standards in seating comfort with those in the functionality of the furniture. Since that time sales of our products have grown far above the average for the industry. And year for a year we manage again and again to beat everything that has come before on the seating furniture market.
